The National Executive Committee of the University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG has indicated that it has suspended its industrial strike action and to allow negotiations to commence and be concluded in two weeks.

In a NEC meeting on Monday, 21 February 2022, the decision was made pursuant to the court order, appeals from Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, and other Eminent Ghanaians. This explains that the strike action which started on 10th January 2022 after school reopened has been suspended.

However, per section 4(b) of the UTAG’s constitution, members have five days to vote to accept or reject the decision taken by NEC. This information was made known by the Secretary of the Association, Prof. Ransford Gyampo in his Facebook post as such.

He ended on the note of affirming their unhappiness for the strike action but only hoping there is sincerity and more commitment in addressing their concerns.
