The incoming National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Asaabeee, has asserted his resolve to reclaim the lost glory of the New Patriotic Party in the Greater Accra Region during the next general elections. He made this conviction while addressing some constituency executives on Tuesday, 24 May 2022 during his campaign trail in his bid for the National Chairmanship position.

Asabeee has since his declaration to contest for this position been engaging the various delegates in their constituencies. He toured the Ashanti Region for the second time last week and has started the Greater Accra Region this week . It can be confirmed that he plans to visit all the 275 constituencies before the National Elections to understand the genuine concerns of the grassroots.

During his interactions with constituency executives within the Greater Accra region, starting with Amasaman, Trobu and Dome Kwabenya, he affirmed his policies as the National Chairman for the ruling New Patriotic Party.

Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, recounting his days as the Minister for Local Government Rural Development and Environment, Tourism and Diaspora Relations, expounded to vindicate his expertise in visionary leadership. He revealed that his success during those periods serves as a testament to his promise to employ visionary leadership through a well-organised party structure if he becomes the National Chairman to break the 8 in the 2024 elections.

“I have lived a life of service in all my leadership roles and I comprehend what it means to be a leader. I am an ardent believer in the word “unity” and will ensure that all factions within the party are united with a common front. This can be fully realised when the structures of the party are functioning effectively for everyone to play his/her specific role,” as said by Asabeee.

He continued with his 60/40 agenda which seeks to bridge the gap between the government and the party. With this, he is confident that the grassroots, together with the constituency executives, will have a say in the appointments of people to government positions.

Asabeee said, “we have more competent patriots at the various constituencies who have toiled for the party and deserve to be appointed to occupy those government positions but are denied. Sadly to note, those that will be appointed are not much informed about their constituencies, hence, they fail to recognise the grassroots when they approach them for opportunities. This will be a thing of the past when I am the National Chairman. This is because, we, the party people will have 40% representation in the appointments, and it will be those at the grassroots.

To end with his submissions, he accepted the fact that the 2024 elections will be a daunting task for the New Patriotic Party since we seek to achieve a milestone which has never been witnessed since the inception of the fourth republic. He reckons that every situation demands its leader, and the battle ahead of the party demands a “Wartime General” who can match and outcast his opponents with his stratagem.

“In 2004, NDC was ruling Mfantseman Constituency with over 16,000 votes margin. NPP had never won that seat before but with the verve and passion, I made history by winning the seat for the first time. I possess the leadership dispositions in all settings to beat the NDC in any fierce contest, and I can do that with you all if given the opportunity,” Asabeee added.

Asabeee, after laying bare his vision for the party, noted that with him as the National Chairman who will see to the realisation of all his policies, he is convinced beyond all doubt that collectively the New Patriotic Party will win back the Greater Accra Region. In the 2020 elections, NDC garnered 1,326,596 votes representing 51.04% while the NPP garnered 1,250,174 votes representing 48.10% with the NDC having 20 seats and NPP having 14 seats. This, he will seek to overturn in favour of the NPP.

The delegates expressed their satisfaction with his message and assured him of their maximum support when the time comes for voting. Most of them declared their intentions to voluntarily campaign for him to win the National Championship position on the premise that his vision holds the key to the party’s goal of breaking the 8 in 2024.
