Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng who is aspiring for the National Chairmanship position of the ruling New Patriotic Party has joined the chiefs and people of Denkyira for the performance of the final funeral rites of his uncle, the late Odeefo) Boa Amponsem III, Denkyirahene. The Pre-intermate for the late King started on Sunday, 24 April 2022 and is expected to be climaxed on Saturday, 30 April 2022 when the late King will finally go home.

The late Denkyirahene whose death occurred seven years ago, thus Wednesday 2 December 2015 after ruling for 60 years from 1955 to 2015 making him one of the longest-serving Traditional Rulers in the Country was yet to be laid to rest due to some internal wranglings. However, after such a long time, the Queen Mother of Denkyira, Nana Ama Ayensua Saara III together with the funeral planning committee arrived at a consensus for the Great King to be finally laid to rest.

The former member of parliament for Mfantsiman West Constituency, with the household name Asabeee, happens to be a direct descendant and a Royal of the Great King of Denkyira. And as obliged of him to give his uncle, Odeefuo a royal journey to the village of their ancestors, He has thus temporarily suspended his campaign for the National Chairmanship position.

Asabeee remarked that the coming generations will remember him as a stalwart and one of the most powerful and influential traditional rulers in the history of Ghana. “The Great King, my Uncle, leaves a huge vacuum in our hearts that cannot be filled. A large number of people also thronged the community of Jukwa where the late King has been laid to rest for the continuation of the pre-intermate after they had begun at Dunkwa between Sunday 24 April 2022 to Wednesday, 26 April 2022. The rich display of the Denkyira Culture was in testament as the root of all cultures, which is said in their dialect as “ )wo Akan amammer3 Denkyira” 3na “s3 Akan wo amammer3 a ne efiri Denkyira”.

Several dignitaries together with paramount chiefs were present for the occasion in a display of their cultures as such. The former President of Ghana, H.E John Agyekum Kuffour, the Head of the Local Governance Services, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, the delegation of Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II led by the Paramount Chief of Manso Nkwanta Traditional Area, Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah II, and among others were there to mourn the late King as such.

Odeefo) Boa Amponsem III, Denkyirahen, a proud native of the Agona Clan will join his ancestors on Saturday, 30 April 2022.
