An entrepreneur, Kwaku Duah, has declared his intention to contest as an independent candidate for the vacant Kumawu Constituency parliamentary seat in the Ashanti Region.
He intends to succeed the late Hon. Philip Basoah, and champion the developmental drive that is already on the move in the constituency.
“I am presenting myself as the “true” Kwaku Duah who is passionate about championing the already developmental drive which is being carried out by the government”, he stated.

He indicated that he is very impressed by the efforts and steps taken by the government to develop the constituency, particularly, the road network, schools and other key projects. According to him, these strong positive signs inspire him to offer himself as the man to lead this transformation agenda by the government.

He commended the government for heeding to the call of the good people of Kumawu. He described himself as development enthusiast who is recognized in his hometown, Bodomase, for his leading roles in several developmental projects.
Mr. Duah stated that, unlike others who are only interested in becoming Parliamentarians just to undermine the developmental efforts of the ruling party and the government, he is interested in working with the government to bring more developmental projects to the constituency.

“Life without liberty is like a body without spirit.” “Freedom is the open window through which pours the sunlight of the human spirit and human dignity.”

“I appreciate what the government is doing in terms of our road network and other projects, and therefore have the desire to work hand-in-hand with the government as the Member of Parliament. I am not that Kwaku Duah that is interested in undermining the efforts of the ruling party to bring development to the constituency”, he stressed.

The Kumawu by-election is slated to be held on 23rd May, 2023. The New Patriotic Party recently elected Ernest Yaw Anim as its parliamentary candidate while the National Democratic Congress will have Akwasi Amankwah as its candidate.
