DUA-PA FOUNDATION DONATES ULTRA-MODERN I.C.T TRAINING CENTRE TO STUDENTS IN KORMANTSE

Dua-Pa Foundation as part of its educational goals has handed over an ultra-modern Information Communication Technology, I.C.T Centre to the students of Kormantse Methodist Basic School, A/B in the Central Region of Ghana. The school which has a population of about 1000 pupils has been in dire need of many social amenities, including, the ICT facility.

The facility was commissioned on 30th April 2022 by the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Hon. Ophelia Mensah-Hayford together with the former Director General of State Interest and Governance Authority, SIGA, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng under the supervision of the founder Mrs. Effie Blankson at the school premises. The facility after its unveiling had the name, “Joseph and Margaret Blankson ICT Center.

“Dua-Pa Foundation”, which seeks to create an ambience and culture to build a revered Africa has the mantra that “When you climb a good tree you’re given a push” (woforo dua pa na ye pia wo), which simply means the little positive effort one makes towards a good cause or self actualisation is recognised and further enabled with help to stay on course. They are endeavouring to create an enabling environment for learning.

Addressing the students, the founder expressed the commitment of the foundation in unravelling the problems confronting the school such as lack of water, inadequate desks, poor sanitation, unavailability of a library amongst others. She said, “I wish to admonish you to take particular care of the computers as they will in return take care of you to become IT experts, technologists and achieve great heights”.

“Dua-Pa is going to work with the community and local tradesmen willing to volunteer their time and skills and financially support and equip them with the necessary tools and materials to reach their goals,” she added.

Hon. Ophelia Mensah-Hayford, the member of parliament addressed the students, reaffirming what has been said by the founder on maintenance culture. She continued by expressing her gratitude to the Dua-Pa Foundation for their benevolence and encouraged them to keep working for the good of the whole community.

In an interview, the founder, Mrs. Effie Blankson indicated the vision of the Foundation is also to ensure unlimited opportunities and equality for women. She continued that they are on the quest to create a level playing field for women to express their inner prowess.

The project was achieved in collaboration with Eguana Ebusua of Kormantse led by Jojo Blankson.

“We want to consolidate our gains on the Project 841 which was dubbed “Yaa Asantewaa” and work on the current one dubbed “Bold as Bamboo” which we strongly believe that by working together collectively with businesses, they can continue to grow to embark on their journeys and exploit their potential and gain economic independence.
